Layout at a glance
iPhone & iPad: The interface adapts to your device and orientation.
Portrait vs. Landscape: Controls stack vertically in portrait and arrange in a row in landscape for quicker access.
Dark theme: The app runs in a dark visual style to match cockpit environments.
Animated background
A smooth, organic animated background runs while the tracker is active (static when stopped). It’s purely visual and doesn’t affect performance or tracking.
Status area (top)
Connection & aircraft
“Waiting for X-Plane…” appears until the app detects the simulator on your network.
When connected and your aircraft is loaded, the aircraft name is shown.
FPS badge (tap to pause/resume the simulator)
Shows the current simulator FPS (or Paused).
Green ≈ healthy frame rate
Yellow ≈ moderate
Red ≈ low
Gray = not connected/stalled
Tap the badge to toggle X-Plane pause (when connected).
Pre-start guidance
When you press Start, a short countdown shows a help tip (e.g., “Look straight at the panel…”). Hold steady and face forward to calibrate a natural “center.”
Tracking warnings
If the tracker reports poor quality (e.g., low light, occlusions), a yellow warning pill appears with a brief hint on what to fix. It only shows while tracking is running.
Main controls (center)
Start / Resume / Pause (big round button)
START — begins tracking with a 3-second countdown by default.
RESUME — continues from a paused state.
PAUSE — temporarily halts tracking without stopping it.
Countdown ring — shows progress toward start; a large number indicates seconds remaining.
READYING — very brief “getting ready” state before live tracking begins.
The Start button is disabled if the app isn’t connected to X-Plane and your aircraft isn’t loaded yet.
Stop
Stops tracking entirely.
Recenter
Sets your current pose as the new “straight ahead” instantly.
Enabled while tracking is running.
Rebase
Re-anchors tracking to the current simulator camera POV.
Enabled while tracking is running or paused.
Disabled when X-Camera is active (because X-Camera manages POVs internally).
Settings
Opens the full Settings screen (in a full-screen sheet).
When you close Settings and your aircraft is loaded, the app auto-saves your configuration per aircraft.
Accessories bar (bottom)
Presets
Choose among built-in head-tracking presets or select User for your custom settings.
Choosing a preset applies it immediately.
The picker auto-highlights a preset if your current values match it; otherwise it shows User.
Help
Opens a Help sheet with quick guidance and a support link.
X-Camera badge
When X-Camera is detected, you’ll see “X-Camera Enabled” centered in the accessories bar.
On first detection, a one-time hint appears reminding you to enable TrackIR on each X-Camera view you want controlled.
Tips for smooth operation
Keep your room well lit and your face unobstructed for reliable TrueDepth tracking.
For the best feel, aim for 30 FPS or higher in X-Plane.
If your device moves when tapping the screen, use Pause while interacting or enable deadzones / lower translation sensitivity in Settings.
Use Recenter whenever your “straight ahead” drifts.
What changes automatically
Aircraft switch: When you load a different aircraft, Flight Track ONE stops tracking and loads that aircraft’s saved tracking profile (if available).
Settings save: Closing Settings while an aircraft is loaded saves the current profile for that aircraft.
Review prompt: After several normal stops, the app may politely ask for a store review.
Quick reference
Big button: Start / Resume / Pause with countdown
Stop / Recenter / Rebase: Secondary round controls
Settings: Full-screen sheet, auto-saves per aircraft on close
Presets: Apply instantly; User = your custom values
Help: Quick guide + support link
FPS badge: Tap to pause/resume X-Plane; color shows performance
X-Camera: Auto-detected; enable TrackIR per camera inside X-Camera
